When some look at the world, they only see the pain,
They can’t look past the rising problems and the ever falling rain.
But they don’t look for what the earth is worth fighting for,
They only see what’s on the surface but there is so much more.
So when someone asks you to help them save our one and only earth,
You don’t, ‘cause you don’t see its beauty and its worth.
It’s beautiful, it is our home
It’s where we live and all we’ve ever known.
I need your help so we can live as long as we can
Please love the world enough to change it and lend a helping hand
When we look at the world, we see it many different ways
Some see it clear as a bright blue sky and others are in a haze
But if we don’t work together on this one important thing
All we’ve ever cared about won’t mean anything
The rivers, the deserts, our families and our homes,
The wildlife, the mountains and anywhere you want to roam,
None of these would be here if not for the earth,
Let’s give the world our best shot and all that we’re worth.
It’s beautiful, it is our home
It’s where we live and all we’ve ever known.
It’s where are families are, our children, and all that we love
To change the world for all of them has to be enough
It’s beautiful, it is our home
It’s where we live and all we’ve ever known.
We don’t get another world to try again
This is the only one we have so lend your helping hand
Description Paragraph:
One time in my environmental class, my teacher mentioned something that really stuck with me. He said that we want to protect what we love. At the time when he was saying this I believe he was talking about a creek or a river near where he grew up. It was something that he cared about and therefore he was sad when it became polluted. When he was talking about this it reminded me of a camp up in the Sierras that my family goes to every year called Dinky Creek. A few years ago they were planning to build a dam there and we would no longer be able to camp there. All the families that used that camp signed a petition and fought for it and now we can still go, but I remember at the time being so heartbroken at the thought and always trying to come up with things that, at the time, I thought would help. That’s what inspired this song. I wanted people to think about everything they truly loved in this world to make them see that we need to preserve the earth (where everything is). Also, in the slideshow of pictures there’s some photos of my family at Dinky Creek (which we love), some my brother took in South Dakota (which he loves), some my other brother took in Fiji (which he loves), and some that I took when I thought the moment was just beautiful (which I love). That alone is worth preserving and if we all thought of what we loved most in the world I think we’d all see why it was so important.
